Ole Miss hosted upwards of 200 prospects for its junior day Saturday, including coveted recruits…
A Pair from the SEC
Rashawn Smith profile "I have offers from Mississippi State and Ole Miss right now," said Smith. "I like both of them. "I have been to both schools and I have met all of the coaches and I like everybody. I like the campuses. "They have a lot in common and both schools are good options for me. "I know for sure that both of them are going to be building a lot at their school when I graduate high school." Having a pair of friends on campus at Mississippi State might be a factor for Rashawn, but he reports that it will not be a major one. "I love those guys, but I have to do what is best for me," said Smith. "I have to look out for myself. I might end up there or I might not. "I just have to figure this all out for myself." The departures of Brown and Coman from the Eagle defense sort of thrusts Smith into a leadership role. The talented linebacker reports that he is ready to step up and take the reins. "People have been talking to me about being more vocal," said Smith. "I have never really had to do that because Beniquez and Kivon were here. "Now that they are gone, me and some of my teammates are going to take over and keep the team going in the right direction." For now, Smith has his focus on Florence football, but recruiting is not totally on the back burner. "I am not sure when I am going to decide," said Smith. "I am just going to have to sit down and talk with my family when the time is right and then just go from there. "I plan on going some places this summer, but my dad wants me to play AAU basketball. I am going to be doing some traveling, so I may not get to go everywhere I want to go. "I am just going to have to see what happens and then make my decision when the time comes."
