Recruiting Spotlight - Sammie Long

Scout.com spoke recently with Sammie Long, a 6-foot-4, 190-pound receiver from Lakes High School in Lakewood, Wash., and Long currently has one scholarship offer - from Washington - but others are definitely in the mix. Is Long looking to make an early decision?

"I have to talk with coach (Dave) Miller about that," Long said.

While the Huskies are high on Long's list, he said that UCLA, California, and Georgia Tech might be close to offering. He said he is hoping to make Junior Day events at Washington, Oregon and Oregon State this spring. He tried to make it over for a Washington State Junior Day, but couldn't make it over a snowy Snoqualmie Pass.

Long, who was an honorable mention all-league pick as a sophomore and a second-team all-league selection as a junior, caught 20 passes for 276 yards and five touchdowns on a Lakes team loaded with skill talent.

For those looking ahead to the Badger Elite 7-7 tournament in Las Vegas at the end of March, Long will be there with Lakes teammate Marquin Russell.
