Chris Fetters ( spoke recently with Kevin Thompson, a 5-foot-7, 185-pound running back/linebacker from Lakes High School in Lakewood, Wash., and Thompson comes from a program that has had some great smaller RB's; Akeem Anthony (Idaho) immediately comes to mind. Thompson is a smart kid too, boasting a 3.92 GPA - and the Ivies are taking notice.

"Harvard, Cornell, Penn, Yale," Thompson said when asked who from the Ivy League has been in contact with him.

Thompson, who moved with his family to Lakes from Oklahoma in the eighth grade, had four touchdowns on offense and 40 tackles on defense for the Lancers as a junior, leading to second-team All-League honors.

Like many of his Lancer teammates, Thompson also runs track. He ran an 11.27 100m in the state 3A finals last spring, and is looking to improve on his effort as a senior. He was also on the bronze-medal winning 4x100m relay team in 2011.

For this spring, besides track Thompson is hoping to take some unofficial football visits to places like Wake Forest, Stanford, and the service academies. "I want to do as best as I can in the few camps that I can attend," he said.
