Recruiting Spotlight - Dionte Johnson

It's been a bit of a whirlwind for Dionte Johnson, but he's finally where he needs to be. For the 6-foot, 183-pound athlete from Lakes High School in Lakewood, Wash., he's hoping the path he's traveled to date hasn't put him behind the 8-ball when it comes to recruiting. He's got one season to make the most of his opportunities, and he plans on taking advantage of it.
"I just transferred from Pennsylvania," Johnson told Scout.com. As part of a military family originally from Texas, Johnson knows what it's like to move around a little bit. "I played at Yelm last year, but then we were able to move into Fort Lewis housing." That move allowed Johnson to transfer to Lakes.
Johnson, who is expected to play running back on offense and a safety hybrid/rover position on defense, says he has the motivation and talent to make a difference for the Lancers. "I work hard, I'm explosive and I break tackles," he said.
Now it's just a matter of college getting familiar with Johnson's game. At Yelm, his burst and quickness was utilized at defensive end, but at Lakes he'll most likely get a shot within a backfield loaded with talent.
