Lincoln Way Central defensive end Evan Panfil is a sleeper who stands 6'5, 230-lbs and had a big junior year highlighted by his eight sacks.
"I don't have any offers right now," he said, "but I've been talking to quite a few schools. I've been talking to Purdue, Indiana, Iowa, a little bit to Illinois, Minnesota, Iowa State, Illinois State, Northern Illinois, Western Michigan, those are the major ones right now."
Panfil has visited a couple schools and plans to see a few more coming up.
"I've been to Purdue. I've scheduled a visit to Northern Illinois and Western Kentucky as well. I'm going to Indiana for spring practices and going back to Purdue for spring practice."
His junior day visit for West Lafayette was a good one even though he has been there many times before.
"Purdue was awesome. My mom went there. My uncle and my grandfather both played football there and my cousin played there, so Purdue's been in our family for awhile. I grew up loving Purdue. We go there. We try to get to quite a few games every season. I love it there. The junior day was awesome. I saw all their facilities. I talked to Coach Landholm and he's real enthusiastic. He offered for me to come back to a spring practice and spring game as well. I think I'll take them up on that. They're a great defensive line school and program. I'm real interested in Purdue."
In addition to his eight sacks, Panfil also had two forced fumbles and three recoveries as a junior.
