Bonnafon embracing role
Reggie Bonnafon is waiting his turn at Trinity, but he's enjoying the ride to the tune of two consecutive state championships. Scout.com talked with the sophomore quarterback. Great players come through Trinity year after year. Two seasons ago people wondered who would be the starting quarterback and they got Travis Wright, who has led them to two state championship and a national championship. When Wright leaves after the 2013 season, Reggie Bonnafon will be waiting in the wings. "I think I improved a lot during last year; from reading coverages and keeping my head in the playbook. I am doing the small things to help me and my team get better," said Bonnafon. Bonnafon was only six of eight for 231 yards and three touchdowns last year. But he also had 59 rushing yards and two more touchdowns. But he's thankful for the opportunity to play at such a high level. "Playing for a school like Trinity is not only preparing us to play at the highest level, but also making us into great young men," said Bonnafon. "Playing for Trinity makes you work as hard as you can and our coaches only demand the best of us to go out and play at a high level every Friday," he said. Bonnafon is spending time working with a former Louisville quarterback and preparing for some camps in the spring. "At the moment, I have been working out with former Louisville quarterback Hunter Cantwell. I'm also attending a couple of camps and showcases such as the Elite 11, NFTC and the Kentucky Elite QB Football Showcase," he said. With all the effort he's put into his game, it's no wonder that several schools have inquired already, despite his limited action. "At the moment the schools I'm talking to the most would have to be Louisville and Arkansas," he said. "I have made visits to Tennessee and I have been on five or six visits to Louisville. I have been asked to visit Arkansas and Marshall recently," he said. Additionally, Bonnafon said Tennessee-Martin, UCF, North Carolina, UAB, West Virginia and Penn State have also been in contact.
