Quarterback Johnny Stanton helped lead his team to a State Championship in 2012. His style of play is eerily reminiscent of another quarterback famous for his bruising style and unorthodox throwing.

At 6'2/220, quarterback Johnny Stanton of Santa Margarita is bigger than most of the linebackers he faces in high school. He is an excellent athlete who has exceptional balance and uncanny strength, making him nearly impossible to bring down when he is running his teams version of the spread.

Stanton helped lead his team to a CIF-SS Championship in the renowned Pac-5 division in California before going on to win the State Bowl game a week later with a combination of timely passing and a bruising ground game.

His style led the student section to began a cheer midway through the season of "JOHN-NEE TEE-BOW," and the comparison to former Florida Gator and current Denver Bronco Tim Tebow is not unwarranted.

Tebow was a more prolific passer at Nease High School near Jacksonville, Fla., than Stanton is at the same stage of his career, but they each employ a power over speed running game that simply wears down opponents. Stanton currently has offers from Cal, Washington, and Air Force. He may be looked at as an athlete eventually, but he passes well enough to get a first crack at quarterback.

Before Stanton and Santa Margarita could take on San Clemente in the CIF Championship, they had to take on a tough Mission Viejo squad. Stanton helped lead his team to the win and introduced himself to 4-Star safety Max Redfield in the process.
