McAuliffe Lands First Offer
Lemont High School has been something of a lineman factory over the years, producing several touted offensive line prospects, and the 2013 class is no different. Many recruiting fans already know about offensive tackle Ethan Pocic, but guard Tim McAuliffe is another Division-1 prospect who recently landed his first offer. "Last Wednesday, I got offered by Western Kentucky," he reported. "It was exciting. We're going to check out Western Kentucky next Saturday for their junior day for the first time." McAuliffe is a high school guard, but he says he is being recruited as a center. In addition to the Hilltoppers, he is hearing from several other Division-1 programs. "I've gone down to Illinois for junior day, Purdue for junior day and also visited Illinois two weekends ago. I visited Ball State for a game during their football season. I'm getting some mail from Michigan State and Boston College pretty steadily." Both junior day experiences are ones McAuliffe says he enjoyed. "Coach Butkus, my recruiting coordinator is a good guy and a good coach. We didn't really talk about an offer, but they said they like my tape a lot and they were interested in me. Purdue was a good visit. I gave them my tape while I was there and I haven't heard back from them yet, but I'm hoping to hear back from them." He is also hoping to be the next great center from Lemont, following in the footsteps of Dave Molk, who went from the school to become an All-American at Michigan. "I've met him once or twice in the weight room. I don't really know him too well and my coach says a lot of great things about him. He's an animal. He's going to get drafted this upcoming draft." McAuliffe is currently undecided on which camps he will attend.
