Freeman has the resume

When looking at the 2011 Washington Class 3A AP All-State team, there's four Bellevue Wolverines on it - but only one on defense. He also happens to be only one of three juniors listed on either side of the ball. And you've probably never heard of him. His name? Darien Freeman.

At 5-foot-10 and 295 pounds, Freeman would probably be a household name in top recruiting circles if he was 3-4 inches taller. "100 percent, no question about it," said Matt Razore, Bellevue's defensive backs coach and the one that takes care of a lot of the college recruiting duties for the Wolverines when asked by Scout.com recently about Darien Freeman.

"He is a stud. His energy, number one…and swag. We call him 'Baby D'. He has Baby D swag. His energy and strength by shedding people…he may look big, but he's actually really, really quick and has great hands and great feet. He gets off the ball well and takes care of the center and guards pretty easily."

Freeman is the younger brother of former Wolverine Jo Jo Freeman, who is currently playing ball at Western Montana.

As far as early recruiting goes, Freeman followed Miami when he was little, but now that it's time to start looking for colleges, his size hasn't dissuaded Pac-12 schools from at least reaching out to gauge interest. He already has camping plans out on the east coast.

"Washington sent a letter a couple of days ago, and Oregon State and Colorado are showing interest," Freeman said. "I'm going to Boston College's camp from June 17th to the 21st, and not sure about other camps right now."

With a 3.9 GPA, Freeman will easily pass through the NCAA Clearinghouse, so expect him to garner a lot more recruiting interest as he goes through the process.
