The battle between the big men in the trenches is always one of the most exciting and entertaining things to watch during the Nike Football Training Camps and this year should be no exception as a number of top players are scheduled to attend.
On Sunday, some of the best talent in the area will gather in the DFW area to compete in this year's Nike Football Training Camp and there are some true road graders along the offensive line.
Celina High's Jake Raulerson – Scout.com's No. 2 rated offensive tackle – a 6-foot-5, 250-pounder was one of the best at last year's NFTC held at TCU and this year he is back as the headliner at the position. Last year he dominated the camp on both sides of the ball, winning all of his reps at tackle and defensive end. Look for him to get reps at both positions again this year. He has already committed to play at Texas and the Horns have the versatile big man slated to play defensive side of the ball.
Maurice Porter, a 6-foot-5, 295-pounder from Marshall High in Missouri City, Texas is already starting to pull down offers and his ability to be a dominant pass blocker and run blocker sets him apart. West Virginia, Baylor, Colorado and Houston have already stepped to the plate with offers and even more should soon follow. He is rated as the No. 17 offensive guard prospect by Scout.com.
Rami Hammad, a 6-foot-5, 310-pounder from Irving High in Texas is another prospect to watch. He took home MVP honors along the offensive line at the Next Level Athlete Showcase in Lancaster. He is barrell-chested and very strong at the point of contact. Baylor, New Mexico and Tulsa have all stepped up with early offers. He is rated as the No. 27 offensive guard prospect in the country by Scout.com.
San Antonio O'Connor High's Baylen Brown is another prospect who is seeing early offers roll in. Baylor, Purdue and Mississippi State have all indicated that they want him to play for their school and a number of others are keeping a close watch. He is not currently rated, but that should soon change.
