The battle between the big men in the trenches is always one of the most exciting and entertaining things to watch during the Nike Football Training Camps and this year should be no exception as a number of top players are scheduled to attend.
On Sunday, some of the top prospects in the area will gather in the DFW area to compete in this year's Nike Football Training Camp and the defensive line may be the most stacked of positions, six Scout.com Top 300 players are slated to attend.
On the offensive line it will be a Texas commit Jake Raulerson headlining the group and he will likely flip over and take reps at defensive end. On the defensive line it is another UT commit that enters the event as the top-rated talent and he could easily flips over and take reps on the offensive line. Arlington Heights High's defensive tackle A'Shawn Robinson is versatile prospect at 6-foot-5 300 pounds. He should be a load to handle in the middle no matter where he lines up. He is currently rated as the No. 6 DT in the country by Scout.com.
No prospect may be hotter than Alief Taylor High defensive end Torrodney Prevot. His length and lightning quick reflexes off the edge have coaching staffs tripping over themselves to get him offers. Texas, Texas A&M, Oklahoma and LSU are just a snippet of the major schools that have issued schollies. The 6-foot-5, 215-pounder is currently rated as the No. 7 defensive end in the country by Scout.com.
Christian Lacouture, a 6-foot-4, 240-pounder from A&M Consolidated High in Texas is one of the most coachable and technically sound defenders in the Lone Star State. He made an early commitment to play at Texas A&M, but he committed to Mike Sherman. Now that the coach is gone he has opened back up and is now considering offers from schools like LSU, Michigan and Missouri. He is rated as the No. 20 defensive tackle by Scout.com.
Daeshon Hall, a 6-foot-6, 220-pounder from Lancaster High shares a lot of the same qualities with Prevot. He is wiry and has great length. He is a well-rounded defensive linemen who will chase down the run and put pressure on the quarterback. Like Robinson, he has already made a commitment to play for the Texas Longhorns in college.
Making his way from the Bayou State is Tim Williams, a 6-foot-4, 230-pound defensive end from LSU Lab in Baton Rouge, La. As a player he attacks the ball well, he plays with speed, and he really closes on the ball. He can get after the quarterback, which should pay dividends in a camp setting. Schools like Alabama, Arkansas, LSU, Texas A&M, USC and Florida State have all offered. He is rated as the No. 11 defensive end by Scout.com.
Scott Pagano, a 6-foot-4, 280-pounder will be making the trip all the way from Hawaii. The current Scout.com four-star is rated as the No. 19 defensive tackle in the country. He is a load on the defensive line and has a tremendous amount of strength and good quickness that could allow him to be either a defensive end or tackle in college. Schools from all over the country have offered the big man, and he wants to make a decision just before his first game of the 2012 season.
