Los Angeles (Calif.) Bishop Mora Salesian 2014 linebacker Jamardre Cobb spent the weekend playing with 4th Quarter Sports at the New Level Athletics Elite 7on7 Tournament, held in Las Vegas, Nevada.
“I hope we improve on throwing people out and not letting other offenses score,” Cobb said after his first game.
Clearly, something clicked, as the team, which includes Cobb’s Salesian teammates Jihad Vercher, Marquis Ware, and Jermaine Kelly, is headed to Nationals after an impressive showing.
“It’s really good being on the team and making good friends, playing with my teammates,” he said.
Cobb, who FOX Sports NEXT has named as one of the West's top 2014 defensive prospects, has already received offers from Boise State and Washington State, and has interest in a few more out of state programs.
“I want to take trips to Utah, Arizona, Alabama, and Florida. They are all good schools that are out of state. I don’t think I’ll take trips to California schools until next year,” he said.
This past season was Cobb’s first at Salesian, as he transferred from Cathedral after playing his freshman year on Varsity.
“I used to be defensive end, and I only recently really felt comfortable with linebacker because I’ve been working on those position skills,” he said.
