Ashton Shumpert spent some time in Starkville this weekend for Mississippi State's junior day. Shumpert was pleased with the experience and says he especially enjoyed watching spring practice. "It was cool. I was at at the junior day there and I got to watch the spring practice. I liked that a lot." Shumpert also got to chat with Mississippi State coaches for a bit. He says his bond with them is growing stronger. "I talked with coach Knox. That was good. He had a lot of good things to say." Shumpert has also been in contact with Ole Miss. He spoke with the coaches in Oxford, MS last week. "I talked with Ole Miss about the spring game. I can't go because I have a Nike Combine that day but we talked about me just coming down to watch a practice and see how they look so far. I haven't set a date yet for that." Shumpert says he has spent most of his time talking to Ole Miss and Mississippi State recently and hasn't touched base with other coaches. Shumpert says he's busy with school, church and helping his family so he doesn't have a lot of time for the recruiting process. After this interview, he went to his grandparents' house to mow their lawn for them.
