As expected Rob Boyd, a 6-foot-4, 285-pound offensive guard from Vian High in Okla., made his decision to commit to the Tulsa Golden Hurricane.
The Scout.com three-star prospect also had offers from Memphis and Navy and Oklahoma and Oklahoma State were also showing interest, but at the end of the day he just felt a connection with the coaching staff.
“I really love the coaches,” Boyd said. “I can tell they are very genuine with what they say. Tulsa has a great family atmosphere. The players and coaches have a close family relationship.”
The coaching staff has put forth a lot of effort into getting Boyd’s attention, and it sounds like they have succeeded.
“I felt very wanted there,” he said with a hint of smile in his voice. “They told me I was their number one.”
As a junior, Boyd earned All-State and All-Conference efforts while helping lead Vian to a 12-1 season.
