Ole Miss and Mississippi State offered CB Noel Ellis within the past week, according to a close relative of Ellis.
The Rebels and Bulldogs join Arizona, Auburn, California, Cincinnati, Colorado, Florida State, Pittsburgh, Tennessee and Texas A&M in the race to land the shutdown corner from Edna Karr, a Class 4A program located on the West Bank of New Orleans.
Ellis was a star defender on the Cougars' 2010 and 2011 state runner-up squads.
Karr finished behind Franklinton and Neville each of the past two years. The Cougars should challenge Neville for 4A supremacy again this fall. Karr brings back Ellis, four-star TE Standish Dobard, and super-sophomores Devante Noil (QB) and Gerald Willis (DL).
Ellis' father was a standout defensive back at Tulane University.
The younger Ellis is a three-star prospect rated No. 25 in the nation at his position.
