Coverdale Blowing Up In Ohio
Sam Coverdale started drawing recruiting attention last February, after an impressive showing at the Raw Talent Sports Combine in Cleveland. His film was released shortly after, and the rest is history. Coverdale, 6-foot-7, 280-pounds, now holds nine offers, including four from BCS schools. "I have the three MAC offers and also Yale and Harvard have extended financial offers, plus I have four BCS offers in Cincinnati, Northwestern, Louisville and North Carolina State," Coverdale stated. "The Ivy League offers provide great opportunities and I'm looking closely at both of them. I know what a degree from an Ivy League school would mean to my future." "North Carolina State is the latest, coming last weekend," he added. "I'm interested in them because they have a great engineering school, which I want to study. I'm visiting Northwestern Tuesday, and I'm definitely interested. Both of my parents went to Northwestern, and my dad has a PHD in engineering from Northwestern. Louisville offered me over the phone. They are doing a great job recruiting me, and I need to set up a visit there. I've been to Cincinnati and like a lot about their program. Their coaches are great, and they've been to my school to see me." Coverdale is hoping for offers from a few other top programs that are showing interest. "I've been to Georgia Tech twice, and loved it there," he explained. "Illinois, Wake Forest, Miami of Florida, Kansas and Vanderbilt have all been in touch. I'm trying to set up more visits to these schools, but it's hard to do with school in session. I would love to have a Georgia Tech offer, and think a lot of that school. I'm going on a bus tour this summer, which will let me see a lot of schools." Also a top achiever in the classroom, Coverdale should be able to attract more offers as college coaches are able to see him in person, and verify his height and weight numbers.
