"I feel more excited about football now," Johnie told TheInsiders.com. "I'm really ready to start working out this summer."
Kirton ran a 4.8 40, 4.4 shuttle and jumped 25 inches in the vertical. He turned some heads when he went and worked out with the running
backs. "It was interesting," he said. "People were all surprised that I was with the running backs. But they don't realize that at my school, the
fullback is almost as big as I am.
"I'm a big guy, but I can move like a little guy."
After the Nike camp, Kirton and his teammates head to Bellingham to attend their team camp at Western Washington University. Other than that,
Johnie plans on just working out like a madman.
Kirton has no scholarship offers to date, and listed Oregon
, Oregon State
as the schools now showing him the
most interest. He's wide open to any overtures that come his way.
Johnie Kirton is a 6-2, 253-pound RB/LB from Mill Creek (Wash.) Jackson, and Johnie has really been racking up the frequent-flyer miles. This
last Friday he didn't have to go far to attend the Seattle Nike camp, but the weekend before he made the 5 hour-plus trip from the Puget Sound
to Eugene to attend a Nike camp in Eugene. His attendance at the camps has infused Kirton with a sense of urgency.
