A look at the top prospects expected in Las Vegas this weekend for the fifth annual New Level…
Player Intro: 2014 WR Brandon Finona
Though college is still a few seasons away, Monterey (Calif.) 2014 wide receiver Brandon Finona knows what football conference he hopes to play for. "I'm in love with the Pac-12, like Stanford, California, Oregon, and Arizona State. They're close to home and I'm also looking at academics. I definitely want to take some visits," he said. Though Finona has been receiving letters, the 5'10", 165 lb. prospect is ready to showcase his talents and increase his visibility. Over the next few weeks, Finona will be participating in both of AIGA's California Underclassmen Showcases, Junior Rank's Prodigy Sports Elite Camp in Florida, and at the Oakland Nike Football Combine, as well as hitting the college camp circuit. "I'm going to attending the Fresno State receiver camp, UCLA's air assault receiver camp, Stanford's elite receiver camp and their contact camp, and Cal State's camp," he said. For Finona, the off-season is no excuse to slack off. He's been putting in many hours each week, working to sharpen his skills before spring practices begin. "I've been in the weight room a lot just doing a lot of training. I've been working on keeping up my speed and I've been building my strength up. I've also been going to a lot of camps; I was at the New Level Athletics 7on7 in Las Vegas, and I went to Passing Down and to the Gridiron camp in Corona," he said. Overall, Finona is looking forward to his junior season and is ready to show out on the field. "I have speed, and I feel like I'm an intense player. I just know the game really well," he said.
