Brandell Massey talks recruiting
"We started spring practice today," said Brandell Massey. "I know a couple schools have stopped by like Chattanooga. Some more schools have told my coach they plan on stopping by.
"The schools showing interest are Cornell, Memphis, Middle Tennessee. Florida State wanted me to send them my highlight tape. Yale has sent me some stuff. There are a lot of Ivy League schools sending me stuff. Tennessee has sent me some stuff and South Alabama."
Massey will attend the Ultimate 100 camp in June. He also plans to camp at Alabama and Ole Miss. Florida State and Ole Miss are schools high on his list.
The 5-foot-11, 208-pound prospect had 100 rushes for 1,000 yards last season. He also added 110 tackles, one interception and three forced fumbles on defense.
"I am quick," Massey said. "My moves are very quick. My speed is good for my size. I'll also say my trucking ability. On defense I want to work on being quicker. I want to notice the plays before they happen. I need to work on my hands. I dropped a few interceptions last year."
Massey was one of the standout performers at the South Showcase Combine a couple of weeks ago in Oxford.
"The combine was a good deal," said Massey. "I liked it. There was a lot of competition there. I didn't think there would be that much competition. It was a lot of fun."
