One of the top prospects on the central coast of California is San Luis Obispo (Calif.) linebacker Jack Ferguson.
Ferguson (6-1, 245), had a good showing at the SoCal NFTC last month, and he’s gotten an FCS offer, but he’s patiently waiting for his first FSC offer.
“Cal Poly just offered me about a week ago,” said Ferguson. “Cornell and UC Davis could be offering too.”
Ferguson is looking at a number of Pac-12 schools as more ideal destinations for college.
“I’m going to Colorado and UCLA in May,” said Ferguson. “And I’m going to camp at Oregon this summer. And I’ll visit West Point as well this summer. I went to Fresno State last Friday.”
Ferguson said most of his attention is coming as a linebacker, but Cal Poly envisions moving him to end down the line.
“Everyone is recruiting me for linebacker so far but it all depends on how much bigger I get this next season,” said Ferguson. “Cal Poly wants me as an end, but I would start out as a linebacker.”
Ferguson’s dream school is Stanford, but their smaller class could keep that from happening.
“I’d love to get an offer from Stanford, but it doesn’t look like they will be offering because of the number of scholarships,” said Ferguson. “But pretty much any Pac-12 school, I’m interested in.”
Ferguson said his top five schools were Oregon, Stanford, UCLA, USC and Colorado.
Academically, he has a 4.2 and will take the SAT this spring, having scored an equivalent of an 1800 on the PSAT.
