Marqavius King, athlete from Abbeville, Ala., had an impressive junior campaign. College coaches took notice and visiting this spring. The first scholarship offer came this week.

"Arkansas State came by the school today," said Marqavius King. "They want me to attend camp this summer. They like my hard work and leadership.

"UAB, Arkansas State, Murray State and Georgia State have attended practice. We’ve had several other schools stop by. Schools are talking to me about playing cornerback or wide receiver. I’ll play wherever they need me.”

King talked of the school on campus on Monday and collected his first offer.

"I was offered today by Georgia State," he said. "It is my first offer. It felt great getting the first offer. It just makes me want to work harder and get at it."

The 5-foot-11, 165-pound athlete plans to attend several camps including Alabama State, Arkansas State, Auburn, Georgia State, South Alabama, UAB, Georgia Tech and West Virginia.

King was a star at the South Showcase combine in Dothan earlier this spring.

"It was great," he said. "I loved the competition and getting to meet new athletes. I think that was the best choice I made in my recruiting process."

King understands schools are recruiting him as an athlete. He was a standout quarterback last season. He was 125-of-202 passing afor 1,980 yards with 25 touchdowns. He added 122 carries for 894 yards with seven touchdowns.
