Five-star running back Justin Davis (6-1, 197) has been playing for the Stockton (Calif.) Lincoln Trojans during his high school career.
Davis has liked it so much he plans to be a Trojan for another few years in college.
"No surprise, I'm committed to the University of Southern California," Davis said.
The West’s top running back picked the Trojans on Thursday evening, giving USC
its second five-star running back this week.
"The synergy of the academics and athletics is like no other," Davis said.
The Davis commit comes two days after Scout.com's top-ranked running back, Ty Isaac, pledged to the Trojans. Davis is ranked No. 3 nationally.
The Trojan coaching staff also left a big impression on Davis.
"The dedication of the coaches to assist me in all areas of life, education and
football probably stood out most to me," Davis said.
Davis had offers from all over the country, but the one from USC, which he got when he attended their Junior Day in February, long stuck with him.
"Man, USC, it was something else," said Davis after an unofficial visit to the Los Angeles campus. "It made me feel at home. They did it right. I got to talk with the coaches a little more, and it got to be a little more personal than Junior Day and I just got more personal with the coaches. I also talked with Matt Barkley some too. The campus was really nice and they're building an amazing new athletic center."
With the commitment from Davis, the Trojans now have four five-star prospects, including the top quarterback (Max Browne) and running back (Davis)
in the West.
Davis, a U.S. Army All-American, will be at the Oakland Nike Football Training Camp this weekend.
As a 2011 junior at Lincoln, Davis rushed for 2,613 yards and 39 touchdowns.
