Shaun Rupert had no idea Penn State was seriously interested in him. Now he wants to learn more…
Shaun Rupert talks favorites
"I have 11 offers," said Shaun Rupert. "I have South Alabama, Arkansas State, UAB, Penn State, Northern Illinois, Troy, FIU, UCF and some small schools like Alabama State. "We've had several schools visit like Florida State and Tennessee. LSU was at our scrimmage yesterday. Coach Smart from Alabama has visited a few times. Auburn also came by to see me." Rupert is hoping an offer comes soon from an SEC favorite. "If I pick up a potential offer I may decide to go ahead and commit," he said. "I just talked to coach [Derrick] Ansley from Tennessee last night. He came to watch me practice. They want me to come to camp, but even if I don't he said I will probably get an offer from them. "I like Tennessee a lot. I like that they are in the SEC. I like the coaches. I grew up around the Tennessee area. I'd say they are slightly ahead of Penn State and Florida State." Rupert also talked about his interest in the Seminoles and Nittany Lions. "Florida State produces good DBs," he said. "I like the coaching staff. I also like the area. "The only thing stopping me from committing to Penn State right now is how far away they are. I like them. I also know there is a lot going on up there right now which is kind of holding me back. If I can get up there for a visit I will see for myself." The 6-foot-1, 190-pound defensive back will camp this summer at Alabama, Auburn and Tennessee. Rupert has the ability to play more than one position. "I can be the best at cornerback or safety," he said. "I have great hips and ball skills. I can walk down and jam at the line or play off the line. I still want to work on breaking on the ball."
