At 6'3 and 240 pounds Jonathan Allen of Ashburn, Va. is a 4-Star defensive end by Scout. He lines up at end and tackle for his Stone Bridge team, and he could end up at still another position in college.
Allen committed to the Alabama Crimson Tide. He is an elite big skill position player who has outstanding athleticism. He change directions like a linebacker and dip his shoulders and turn a corner like a running back.
While he's listed as a defensive end by Scout, knowing how Alabama uses its linebackers in its 3-4 defense, Allen seems like a better fit to play outside linebacker for the Crimson Tide.
With his size and agility, it shouldn't be a tough transition for Allen who shows off his burst blocking kicks on a regular basis for Stone Bridge.
He's strong enough that he could still line up at defensive end for Alabama should he continue to fill out and begin knocking on the door of 300 pounds, but if I'm looking at Alabama's 2011 defense, Allen looks a lot more like Courtney Upshaw (OLB) then Jesse Williams (DE).
Here is a look at Allen in action fron his junior season courtesy of FOX Sports Next:
