Q & A with Phoenix (Ariz.) Mountain Pointe running back

What is your greatest football memory?
"My first starting varsity game. Little did I know. I would also start defense. I think we were playing Perry and I was nervous but I had my first 100 yard+ game and played exceptional on defense."

What are your goals for the upcoming season?
"To not go under radar anymore and make a name for myself. Maybe a championship also."

How are you preparing for your senior season?
"Well, I'm just finishing up my track season. But I am trying to get as big and strong as possible. We have a great weight training program here, but knowing speed is everything at my position, I'm working on speed and footwork also. I've been invited to a few camps, not sure which or if I'll go to either of them."

What aspect of your game are you working hard to improve?
"I've really been working on speed."

What would you like to keep improving on?
"I would like to keep improving on just the knowledge of the game. There is so much to the game of football. The more I train I want to make every game situation not a thought but an instinct."

Name some teammates people need to watch out for?
"Wesley Payne MLB/FB and Landry Payne OLB/HB. Garette Craig CB/RB and Natrell Curtis OL. The whole team along with them all should be standouts."

Name one teammate you respect and why?
"I think I would say Wesley Payne. It is funny because he's a baby but he doesn't play like one. He was only a sophomore last year but he wasn't afraid to hit you in the mouth. Really excited to see how much more beast he's got. He should be one of our Izzy Marshalls or Joey Leal's before he graduates."

What are your goals regarding football in college?
"Win a few bowl games where ever I go. And get on the field early."

Who is currently recruiting you?
"A lot of mail from Missouri, Michigan State, some from NAU and USC and TCU requested I come to camps coming up. No offers though."

Top 5 college choices.
"Florida is my favorite. Mizzou, USC, UofA and Arkansas."

Who is the best player you have played against?
"Would definitely be Sam Papa from Desert Ridge a few years ago. That kid was the truth on both sides of the ball."

Name one opponent you respect?
"Hamilton, that school always has a great football team no matter how weird their season ended last year."

What other sports do you play?
"I run track and play basketball."

Best max lifts in bench, squat and 40.
"260 bench, 400 squat, 4.6 40."

How would Coach Vaughan describe you?
"I am willing to work and be coached. And will to win as much as I need to breath."

What are your strengths and weaknesses as a player?
"My vision and strength/speed mix. I lack sometimes to decide to run precise pass patterns."

What can we expect from you next season?
"Team captain on and off the field."
