At 5'11 and 220 pounds, Derrick Green of Hermitage High School in Richmond, Va.
is an imposing figure. Never mind that he looks 25 years old with the build of a
5th year senior in college, Green doesn't just look scary, he runs scary.
Green has quick feet and excellent balance, but many big backs on the high
school level tend to think they're scat backs. A player of Green's caliber is
still the best athlete on the field, but make no mistake about it, Green runs
angry. While he can make a move and break and arm tackle, which he frequently
does, he's not going to hit the ground until he has punished a defender.
Green is being recruited by teams from all over the country including Michigan,
Tennessee, Clemson, Oregon, Virginia Tech and more.
Green is currently rated 4-Stars by Scout and the No. 17 running back in the
nation. In this scout' eyes, that's probably not high enough for Green.
