NFTC Champaign: Jamison Whiting

There were several top wide receiver prospects in attendance last Sunday in Champaign at the Nike Football Training Camp. Jamison Whiting was an underrated wideout that showed well.

Minneapolis Washburn wide receiver Jamison Whiting had a good day last Sunday at the Nike Football Training Camp in Champaign, Illinois.

Whiting. 6-foot-3, 175-pounds, used his size to his advantage in the one-on-one action against the defensive backs.

"I had a lot of fun out here today, and I think I had a really good day catching the football," Whiting stated. "I can't wait to see the tape of my performance, and it was fun competing against a lot of kids with big offers."

Although he currently holds no offers to date, Whiting is receiving recruiting interest.

"I visited Wisconsin a few weeks ago and loved it there," he explained. "They want me to come to camp and show them what I have, and I plan on doing that. I'm hearing from most of the Big Ten and I plan on camping at a lot of them. I'm also hearing from a few Ivy League schools, with Harvard showing the most interest."

"This spring, Arizona, Arizona State, Wisconsin, Penn State, Michigan State and North Dakota were in my high school," he added.

As a junior, Whiting had three interceptions and 67 tackles from his free safety spot on defense. He primarily plays safety in high school, but projects as a wide receiver at the next level.

"Most of these coaches see me as a wide receiver, and that's where I prefer to play," he stressed. "This year, I'm going to have more of a role in our offense at wide receiver, and I'll have more film at that spot."
