Sam Pettway talks first offer

Sam Pettway, safety from UMS-Wright in Mobile, Ala., received his first much anticipated offer Wednesday afternoon. He talked about the latest news...

"I picked up my first offer from Tulane," said Sam Pettway. "My coach gave me the information today. I think Northern Iowa and Troy are close to offering me. Wake Forest is starting to show interest.

"I talked to Tulane today. The coach said he loved my film. He said I am at the top of their board at the safety position. He told me I have an offer from them."

Pettway has never visited Tulane, but he will attend camp June 22.

"I can't say a whole lot about them," he said. "I haven't visited them yet. It's close to home. It's a great medical school. They have a great location. My family can come to all my games.

"It's in New Orleans. You are required to live on campus the first two years. That will be good, so I can stay out of trouble. The coach told me the team has good chemistry. They play in the Dome. That's really nice."

Pettway also plans to camp at Troy, Mississippi State, Southern Miss and South Alabama. He will camp at Jacksonville State next week.
