2014: Willis Earns In-State Offer

The first offer is in for Lawrence Central (Ind.) defensive tackle Kevin Willis.

Indiana became the first school to offer Lawrence Central defensive tackle Kevin Willis, and the rising junior was surprised and excited to learn of it after camping over the weekend.

"It feels really good," he said. "Just knowing how IU's willing to offer me. I guess me and my family are really happy to get an offer from there."

The 6'2, 275-lb Willis played both ways last year, but projects as an interior defensive lineman. That's where he worked with the Hoosiers at their camp and he says he really enjoyed the staff.

"The coaching staff is great, how they coached and how they keep the kids. They don't just let anyone wander off. They tried to make friends with us and then they knew when it was time to be serious when we got on the field."

Lawrence Central has sent a few players to IU the past couple years, and the Hoosiers have also offered Willis' classmates Brandon Lee and Kenny Jones, but he says they have not talked about all going to the same place.

Coming up next, Willis has camps at Ohio State and Cincinnati, while he continues to try to add to his offers and find what he's looking for in a school.

"I guess it depends on good people at the school, academics, the location and the coaches."
