Gibson Discusses Summer Slate

Quentin Gibson

'14 QB Quentin Gibson from Archbishop Shaw (Marrero, La.) talks about his recent trip to Texas for camps at Baylor, TCU and Houston, as well as next month's LSU camp.

Quentin Gibson has been on a roll since winning the QB MVP at the National Underclassmen Combine 5-Star Showcase earlier this year.

"I went on a trip to Texas with my dad for four or five days," said Gibson. "I camped at Baylor with (four-star Dallas Skyline QB) Devante Kincade. I recognized him from the (arm) sleeve that he wears and his haircut. He's real good. Coach (Art) Briles grouped us together. The quarterbacks coach, Philip Montgomery, wants me to call him this week.

"After Baylor, I camped at TCU. Coach (Gary) Patterson and the quarterbacks coach liked me. They had me stay behind to throw with three senior quarterbacks from Texas. I got the quarterbacks coach's (Rusty Burns) number."

Gibson also camped at Houston and with Louisiana Tech, and he plans to camp with Tulane - and possibly Kentucky and Vanderbilt.

"It felt like family at Houston with Coach (Brandon) Middleton," said Gibson. "He's a young guy who played in the NFL. We're on the same page.

"Houston throws the ball a lot. I loved it there. We drove back to Louisiana and I went to Louisiana Tech (which signed his older brother Stephen Gibson this year). Tech gave me the VIP treatment and I loved it there, too. I'm more interested in Tech than I was earlier."

Gibson will camp at LSU in July.

"Elliot Porter (current LSU OL) has a younger brother at Shaw who told me that Coach Frank (Wilson) likes me," said Gibson. Coach Frank came to my practice during the spring. He told me I need to perform at a high level at their camp.

"I like LSU. I'm also real close to Coach (Grant) Heard at Ole Miss. I camped with Ole Miss and did good. They're close to offering."
