Desmond Jennings of the Tampa Bay Rays was once a football star at Pinson Valley in Alabama. In 2004 he had committed to play football for the Alabama Crimson Tide as a member of the Class of 2006, but he elected to go to Itawamba Community College to play a year of both football and baseball.
His year was well spent at Itawamba as he led the league in receiving on the gridiron and improved his draft status from 18th round (Cleveland) after his senior year of high school to 10th round (Tampa Bay) after a year of junior college.
Here is a look at him in action playing quarterback and safety as a senior at Pinson Valley showing the skills that made him a highly thought of football prospect before making the Bigs in baseball.
