Nicholson Continues To Impress
Monroeville (PA) Gateway High School produces top Division-I talent on a regular basis, and the cupboard is full once again. Safety Montae Nicholson is a top 2014 prospect, and the 6-foot-3, 200-pound, safety is having a great summer camp season. Nicholson impressed last weekend at Ohio State, and followed that up with another strong performance Saturday at Penn State. "Penn State's camp was great and I thought I did pretty well," Nicholson. "I started slow but then I picked it up, and played to the best of my ability. The coaches were great to me, and getting an offer from Coach (Bill) O'Brien was amazing. The coaches told me I did well, but they also pointed out my mistakes, and taught me what I did wrong. It was a great day." Nicholson's offer came at the end of camp, and he was both excited and surprised by the news. The Penn State offer is the fourth for Nicholson, following Bowling Green, Toledo and Pittsburgh. "I was very surprised by the offer, and I'm very happy to have it because Penn State is a great school," he explained. "This is one of the greatest schools in America, and I consider this a big offer. I liked the facilities and the stadium, and I also enjoyed meeting with the coaches in their offices. It was a great experience." There are more camps ahead for Nicholson, including a trip to Michigan this coming week. "I go to Michigan for their camp on Tuesday, and I also have camps coming up at Rutgers and Maryland," he continued. "I am very happy to have all four offers, and I feel blessed to have these schools showing interest in me." In addition to his obvious physical skills, Nicholson is also carrying a 3.50 GPA at Gateway.
