Position: Wide Receiver
Location: Westlake Village (Calif.) Oaks Christian
Weight: 195 pounds
Recruiting: Was there ever much doubt Owusu would end up at Stanford? The Cardinal don't need much help right now but they're especially tough to beat on legacies or if an older sibling attended the school and that was the case. Chris Owusu had a very nice career at Stanford and young Francis might have even more upside than his older brother. He's probably not as fast, few are, but he's further along as a receiver at the same stage.
What to Like: Owusu has good size and a great frame. He's all of 6-3 and is really starting to fill out in his upper body. He runs very well and is a legitimate deep threat. He's not just fast but quick as well. Owusu can get off the line and shows plenty of explosiveness getting in and out of his breaks, something you don't always see from taller receivers.
What may be of concern: Owusu has had some injury problems this spring and the question of durability has come up. He'll also need to work on becoming a more consistent pass catcher but the ability is there and his work ethic is such that he'll definitely make big strides and improve at a rapid rate.
Overall Analysis: Owusu was a must have recruit for the Cardinal and they got their guy. With limited scholarships to offer, the Cardinal were looking for a big play, deep threat type at the receiver position and Owusu was the top guy on their board. He's a big athlete with a ton of upside and should flourish in Stanford's pro style offense.
