Barker Works With Buckeye Staff

Conner (Ky.) class of 2014 quarterback Drew Barker talks about his experience at Ohio State camp.

Drew Barker has been recruited by Ohio State for awhile now, but Thursday was the first opportunity for him to work with the Buckeye coaches and for them to see the talented 2014 prospect in person.

"I started off when we were throwing routes on air, I was a little shaky," he admitted. "The wind was blowing pretty hard, but I'm not going to [make excuses], but once I started getting into rhythm and when we went to one on ones, I thought I started throwing really good."

The Buckeye coaches seemed to like what they saw.

"I talked to Coach Herman first and then I talked to Coach Meyer. Coach Herman said that I did very well. He really liekd me. He gave me his number, because I talked to Coach Coombs, but he gave me his number personally and wanted me to call him once a week and then he said, not positive, but once all the camps are died down, that's probably when they'll start handing out offers at the end of the summer or early fall. [Coach Meyer] said I threw really well too. He really liked me. He just said to keep in contact and he said he got on the phone with me too, so that was really cool."

Barker currently stands at six offers, the most recent of which, was South Carolina. He has been busy this offseason, traveling from camp to camp and working with each of the coaching staffs at these stops. In Columbus, he admits he had one of the best experiences so far.

"I really liked it. Coach Herman is a great guy. His instruction, I thought it was really helpful. I definitely could use it and I could see myself playing under him."

The camp tour continued in South Carolina over the weekend, where Barker earned the Gamecock offer, and he has several more trips coming up.

"I'm going to Alabama and Tennessee, Cincinnati, and maybe Florida for Friday Night Lights."

Even with all of the interest and schools recruiting him, Barker will remember his time in Columbus, and should a Buckeye offer come, they would be high on his list.

"I really like them. I feel really comfortable. I go up to all of them on a first name basis. I'm very comfortable with the whole staff."
