Howell (Mich.) tight end Pete Cender made his commitment today, taking his pass catching talents out west.

Although he held two offers much closer to home, Pete Cender, a tight end from Howell High (Howell, Michigan) found what he was looking for farther away from home and committed to the Air Force Academy today.

"After discovering the opportunities that will be presented to me at the Air Force Academy after my visit, on and off the field, there was no question that the academy was the place for me," he explained.

The 6'4, 225-lb Cender's other offers came from Western Michigan and Bowling Green. He was listed among Scout's top performers at the Adidas Invitational, Sound Mind Sound Body Football Academy and Michigan State 7 on 7 this summer.

He is the second known commitment for the Falcons in the 2013 class, joining Denver linebacker Patrick Healy.

The Academy has had success recruiting in Michigan before. Clinton tight end Nate Dreslinski and Lake Orion running back Marques Stevenson both signed in the 2011 class.
