"When I'm on the field, nobody is my friend. I'm mean on the field. I play hard." At 6'4 and 265 pounds (and growing), Palmer's role on the defensive line is to "man everything in the middle – and get after the QB." After a slow start last season as a junior, Palmer made the proper adjustments and saw immediate results. "The beginning of the season was slow for me," he admitted. "Towards the middle, I started to pick it up. I had more tackles for losses. "Gaining experience made the difference," Palmer said. "I played a lot as a sophomore, but it was much different playing week in and week out, every Friday night." Palmer's experience on the field and leadership off the field led to his being named a captain this season at Collins Hill. "My team sticks together," he explained. "We're one heartbeat. We push each other – get the best out of each other." "Palmer is a key factor on our team," said Justin Wyatt, a receiver in the class of 2013. "He was huge on the defensive line last year. He made a lot of stops and caused trouble for opposing QB's getting in the backfield on every single play. "He's a big boy, too," Wyatt said. "It's amazing that he doesn't have any offers yet. He has a lot of high interest from big time schools. We expect him to have an even bigger year this fall as a senior." The improvement that Palmer has made in the weight room and on the football field "will translate on to the college field," Palmer said. "I want to make an impact. I will always push the other guys around me to be their best." Although he doesn't have a collegiate offer on the table yet, Palmer lists Arkansas, Florida State, Georgia, Mississippi State and Tennessee as his current schools of interest. "I talk to the coaches at Mississippi State every week," Palmer said. "They've told me that they'll be making offers in the next couple of weeks. "I also like Tennessee," he said. "I went to the Orange and White game and the coaches say they really like my tape. I loved the school. "FSU is also a great school. I visited recently for the first time," he said. "It would be awesome to play for Jimbo Fisher. Growing up, Florida State was always one of my favorite schools." This summer, Palmer also plans to visit Arkansas. "They were the first to contact me," he said of the Razorbacks. "They got in touch with me at the end of my sophomore year. "My ultimate dream would probably be to play for Georgia," he said. "I've visited already. I went to the spring game and have visited a couple of other times. I don't even have an offer from them, but I'd say they're my number-one school. "Honestly, without any offers, I would consider any school right now," Palmer admitted. "Every place I've been, I've liked. I just want to visit before making a commitment."
