Shipley Headed to Provo
Wilsonville (Ore.) wide receiver Tanner Shipley was in Provo Thursday and received an offer from the coaching staff. It took him little time to decide he wanted to be a Cougar. "Going into today, I was thinking about committing if they were to offer me," said Shipley. "I wanted to take my time, but after going today and talking to all coaches... They have been so great, how much they care about the players and want you to be the best you can be. Just talking to coach Mendenhall gave me a great picture about how going to BYU would affect me in the best way possible." Shipley is LDS and has not decided if he will go on a mission. Whenever he arrives on campus, he will be joining two friends from back home in the state of Oregon. "Yea, with Dallin Leavitt and Brayden Kearsley… You always get that home feeling because friends are going," said Shipley. "They played a part in telling me how BYU works and how great it is, everything the staff does for you." Shipley chose BYU over offers from Oregon State and Wyoming, as well as interest from multiple programs. "I am just so happy right now, it's a weight off my shoulders," said Shipley. "I was really trying to find the good place for me and I was trying to tell myself to be patient but it is hard to do that. All these great schools getting in contact, but with BYU I felt most comfortable and it was home here." "I just wanted to commit and be part of the BYU family my whole life," said Shipley.
