“It feels really good to know where I am going to school,” said Jachin Watkins. “It feels like a weight has been lifted off my shoulders and I don’t have to worry about it anymore.”
Watkins visited the campus and knew that it was the place for him.
“I visited the school last week – the campus was beautiful and I just liked the school,” said 6-foot, 215-pound running back. “I was ready to get the decision out of the way and I knew I wanted to go there, so I committed.”
Watkins had an offer from Bryant University and is still hearing from Elon, Appalachian State, and Duke. However, he is happy with his decision.
“I love the program,” he said. “I like the offense that they run also. I will get the chance to play some running back, H-back, and slot receiver. I will get to do a little bit of everything.”
The 49ers coaching staff played a big role in Watkins’ decision.
“I have a great relationship with the coaching staff,” Watkins said. “They always kept in contact with me and kept me informed on everything.”
So how firm is he with his decision?
“I am pretty firm with my commitment, Watkins said.
Now Watkins will turn his focus to his senior season.
“My goals for my senior season are to get to the state championship and win,” he said. “Individually, I want to rush 2,000 yards.”
Last season, Watkins carried the ball 110 times for over 800 yards and 13 touchdowns.
