Flash Training wins the 2012 NLA Elite 7v7 National Championship in Brooklyn, knocking off Michigan Elite...

BROOKLYN, NY- "Seven Tournaments, Seven Championships!"

That was what Flash Training coach Dwayne Thomas yelled moments after his squad beat Michigan Elite in the NLA Elite 7v7 National Championship finals.

After the clock wound down to all zeros, a tired Flash Training team could barely muster the energy to celebrate, completing their third straight game in a 90-minute span, including a rally in their quarterfinal matchup over the Philly Playmakers.

But when Thomas reminded them of their success in tournaments, the enthusiasm semi-returned, and Flash Training mildly celebrated.

Thanks to USC commit David Sills, who rallied Flash Training in the quarters, then helped them win the semifinals and finals, the "Honey Badgers" made it a perfect seven-for-seven.

It nearly was derailed early though.

Will Fuller, a Penn State commit, did everything he could to help the Philly Playmakers knock off Flash Training in the quarters, before Sills went to work.

After knocking off their Philly counterparts, Flash Training avenged their lone pool play loss, to Delaware Elite, in the semifinals and then cruised past Michigan Elite in the finals.

Still, the game of the day came between two teams that didn't even make it to the finals.

The Goon Squad, one of the favorites in the tournament, went undefeated in pool play on Saturday but had to take on the Virginia Thoroughbreds in the quarterfinals.

And it was a shootout, led by some clutch play by Virginia commit Corwin Cutler.

Cutler helped the Thoroughbreds rally three different times from deficits, and saved his best for last, a beautifully thrown 40-yard touchdown pass to 2014 prospect Jamil Kamara, who out-muscled 2014 defensive back Edward Paris, and got one foot down in the back of the end zone with 30 seconds left, to put the Thoroughbreds ahead.

Shane McCarley got one last shot for a win for the Goon Squad, but was picked off on the final play.

The Thoroughbreds ran out of juice, though, losing to Michigan Elite, behind a big day from Cameron Thomas, a Western Michigan commit.

In the finals, Sills and running back Dhameer Bradley and Daikail Shorts helped Flash Training outlast Michigan Elite, and give themselves some hardware.
