Ben Johnson - TE - 6-foot-6, 225 pounds - Basehor (KS) Linwood:
The first commitment to Kansas from the senior class, local product Ben Johnson is a perfect example of what Charlie Weis looks for in his tight ends - though let's be honest, he'd fit most molds. At 6-foot-6 and 225 pounds, he's an exceptional athlete for his size with great hands, and a match-up problem for linebackers and defensive backs alike.
Montell Cozart - QB - 6-foot-3, 190 pounds - Roeland Park (KS) Bishop Miege:
The 2011 Kansas Gatorade Player of the Year, Montell Cozart is an athletic quarterback who is nonetheless content to define himself as a pass first signal caller, and the stats back the description. He completed more than 60-percent of his passes as a junior, and works tirelessly to improve. His strong relationship with Kansas offensive line coach Tim Grunhard served the Jayhawks well in his recruitment.
Kellen Ash - OLB - 6-foot-2, 190 pounds - Manchester (MO) Parkway South:
Since taking over as the head coach of the Jayhawks, Weis has spoken frequently of wanting defenders capable of playing in space in a league with offenses as potent as those of the Big 12. Ash may have some weight to gain - at 190 pounds - but he's cat quick and technically sound. He'll make an excellent WILL in the Kansas defense.
Jordan Darling - QB - 6-foot-4, 230 pounds - Prairie Village (KS) Shawnee Mission East:
If one were drawing up a prototype quarterback for the Charlie Weis offense, it would undoubtedly come out looking an awful lot like Jordan Darling. Big and tall with a powerful arm, the Texas transplant will lead a high-powered attack at Shawnee Mission East this season. He's capable of making all the throws and during seven-on-seven events this summer has shown outstanding accuracy and decision-making ability.
Colin Spencer - CB - 5-foot-10, 180 pounds - Dallas Woodrow Wilson:
Colin Spencer is, potentially, pound for pound the best overall athlete in the Class of 2013. Blazing fast, strong as an ox and with outstanding lateral quickness, he posted one of the top Nike SPARQ ratings of all time. He's a little raw as a football player, but who better to teach him the finer points of the game than Dave Campo?
Taylor Lewis - CB - 6-foot, 183 pounds - De Soto (TX) High:
The most recent Kansas commitment, Lewis spent his junior season behind a pair of cornerbacks headed to Texas and LSU respectively. As such, he flew under the radar until the Kansas staff caught him during the spring. A relationship developed, and last weekend he gave his commitment to the Jayhawks. Of a good size for a cornerback, he also possesses sub-4.5-second speed in the 40 yard dash.
