2015 RB Eyes The SEC
"I'm improving in every area that I'm weak in," 2015 RB Johnathan Hawkins said of his summer plans. "I'm improving my [quickness and speed]. I'm getting stronger - staying in the weight room." At 5'11 and 205 pounds, Central Gwinnett (GA) sophomore posted impressive numbers last season and earned the attention of major collegiate programs early on, with his first offers reported just months ago. "I had a couple come in this spring," Hawkins said of his recruitment. "[I have offers from] Auburn, Arkansas and Penn State. "I met a lot of coaches this spring; shook a lot of hands," he said. "Right now, I'm just trying to stay focused, keep working hard and keep talking to my family. Sooner or later, I'll make a decision. Hopefully it's the right one." Because he has only played one year of high school football, Hawkins is sure to have plenty of offers to factor into that decision. With major SEC interest already forming, Hawkins admits his love for college football in the south. "I'm big on the SEC," Hawkins admitted. "I've always loved SEC football. But right now, I'm keeping all of my options open." As those options continue to increase, Hawkins plans to rely on his relationships with his family and his future team to make his decision. "My parents will definitely play a role," he said. "The coaching staff will play a role, too. My visits will definitely make a difference." One of those unofficial visits includes a trip to the University of Georgia on Friday, July 13th. Hawkins will compete at Dawg Night on campus in Athens.
