Boston College has picked up Orlando Dr. Phillips safety prospect Matt Milano…
Video of BC commit Matt Milano
Matt Milano (Orlando, Fla./Dr. Phillips) is a safety prospect from the Sunshine State. A few days ago he committed to Boston College. The 6-foot-1 and 190-pound Milano committed to BC over Arizona, Bowling Green, Central Michigan and Miami (Ohio). Last season as a junior he recorded 123 tackles, 17 tackles for loss, three sacks, one interception and three forced fumbles. Milano isn't the biggest safety prospect nor is his the fastest. He has good size and speed. But when it comes to production and making plays Milano always finds himself around the ball. He can play in the box, in the slot or back deep. Milano is terrific around the line of scrimmage. He diagnosis a play quickly and then can shed the block and get to the ball. Milano is a fundamentally sound tackler and does a terrific job of wrapping up. In the slot he shows the ability to come off the edge and attack. Milano also shows the ability to play in space. When he's back playing free he can be that centerfielder. Milano has good range and puts himself in position to make a play. What he lacks in size, speed and overall athletic ability Milano makes up for it with smarts, being in the right place and playing with high energy and fundamentals.
