Preseason prospect rankings of the top WRs and TEs headed into the 2012 season

Top 20 Wide Receivers

1. Devon Allen - Brophy
2. Jalen Brown (JR) – Mountain Pointe
3. Mark Andrews (JR) – Desert Mountain
4. Cameron Denson (JR) – Salpointe
5. Jake Roh – Chaparral
6. Nate Phillips – Basha
7. Christian Kirk (SOPH) – Saguaro
8. Paul Elvira – Marcos de Niza
9. Aeron Carr – Red Mountain
10. Frankie Felix – Hamilton
11. Jordin Hamilton – Chaparral
12. Thair Blakes – Mountain Pointe
13. Isaiah Huston – Boulder Creek
14. Kaleb Germinaro – Desert Vista
15. Isreal Simpson (JR) - Hamilton
16. Lukas Treffers – Saint Mary’s

20. Darius Aguirre (JR) - Peoria

Up and Comers- Chandler’s Dionte Sykes transfers in from Basha with a lot of hype and if you just look at him, physically he deserves it. It will be exciting to see what he does in his first varsity season.

Riser- Frankie Felix from Hamilton is scary with the ball in his hands. He did plenty of damage as a junior getting carries out of the backfield and in the return game but will play the slot this year and will get more touches in space.

Sleeper- Shawn Poindexter - Centennial- The 6-5 Poindexter hasn’t played much football but I love what he did in the passing league tournaments this summer. He is a giant target that could be the Coyotes main red zone receiving threat in 2012.

Dominating Underclassmen- With Brown, Andrews, Denson and Kirk taking up much of the spotlight in a very talented 2014 class, some very very good prospects get overshadowed. I talked above about Sykes and Simpson but Kristian Salinas from Horizon, Bryant O’Georgia from North Canyon, Ismael Murphy-Simpson from Desert Edge, Jordan Brown from Paradise Valley and Matt Munsil from Scottsdale Prep make up a very talented group. Munsil has been one of the state’s leaders in yards and receptions during his two years on varsity.

Transfers- Big Angel Holmes transferred to Cienega from Santa Rita and should get more attention. I liked what Keesean Green did in the return game at Mt. Ridge, he has left for Centennial and joins what looks to be a young but talented group of kids. Rumor is that speedy Jontrell Wooten will no longer be at Washington, we will see where he pops up.
