Right into the fire Frank Ragnow went last year. He stepped in on varsity and played both ways for Chanhassen, but after he settled in, he established himself as a player with big time potential for the next level.
"The first game, it really hit you hard like wow, it's way faster, but the first game I had a good game and now I'm really comfortable."
That doesn't bode well for opponents, neither does the fact that the 6'6 Ragnow is up to 285-lbs.
"Yeah, I'm excited for this fall. I've worked really hard. I put on ten pounds. I was 275 last year."
Schools have seen the size and potential, and Ragnow says he has received mail from Michigan, Michigan State, Wisconsin, Minnesota, Tennessee, Duke, North Dakota State, Northern Iowa and North Dakota. As for camps, that will mostly be a task for next year.
"My dad decided we're going to camp next summer, but we're going to Minnesota this Sunday."
Ragnow plans to try both defense and offense at the camp. He says he enjoys both positions, but believes his future may be more at offensive tackle.
A lifelong native of Minnesota, Ragnow is quite familiar with the program in Minneapolis.
"Yeah," he admitted. "I grew up following the Gophers."
