The 2014 class in the state of Virginia is shaping up to be one of the best in recent memory. One of the players in that class, C.J. Reavis, is already attracting interest from several major college football programs.
It’s (the attention) always what I wanted since I was a little kid,” said C.J. Reavis. “I am just humbled by it and I want to keep working harder.”
“Right now, I have six offers – (Virginia) Tech, UVA, Boston College, Maryland, N.C. State, and North Carolina,” said C.J. Reavis.”
Besides the schools that have offered, other schools are showing interest in 6-foot-1, 198-pound defensive back.
“Ohio State is recruiting me the hardest,” he said. “I am going up there on the (July) 27 for their Friday Night Lights camp. I think they will be the next to offer. I have also talked to Michigan a couple of times this summer. Clemson – I have gotten a lot of mail from them. Cincinnati – I have also gotten hand-written letters from them.”
Two schools are on top for the talented safety.
“Ohio State and Virginia Tech are my top two schools right now,” Reavis said. "(Virginia) Tech is ahead because they have offered already. But, if Ohio State offers –they would be neck and neck”
So far this summer, Reavis has visited UVA, Virginia Tech, and was at North Carolina today. The trip to Ohio State will be the last one this summer, but he plans to take visits this fall.
“I would love to go see games at Alabama and Virginia Tech,” he said. “I will also probably try to get to all the schools that are close to me that have offered. I would like to go to Ohio State when they play Michigan.”
Reavis said he is looking for a school with strong academics. As a junior, he had 90 tackles, three interceptions, and two forced fumbles. Reavis bench presses 265 pounds, squats 410, and runs the 40-yard dash in 4.5 seconds.
