Gourdine Chooses Bearcats

Cincinnati picks up a talented defensive back from Michigan, who brings some versatility to the table.

Isaiah Gourdine chose Cincinnati today over a number of other offers, and although he is on scholarship for football, the decision was about more than that.

"I really liked the academics there and I felt that academics was the most important part for me and my family."

A 6'2 safety, Gourdine joins Javon Harrison on the commit list at that spot, but says he also will get a shot at another position.

"Actually, I talked to the coach today and I told him I wanted to try corner. He said I could, but if that didn't work out, I'll probably play strong safety."

And no matter where he plays, Gourdine will be happy to be playing for this staff.

"They're great guys," he said.
