Rebels defensive line coach Chris Kiffin extended the scholarship offer.
"I was actually outside running and my dad told me to come inside – then my coach told me (about the offer)," said Washington.
The 5-foot-10, 180-pound playmaker has already scheduled a trip to Oxford.
"I will be visiting September 15 to see Ole Miss play Texas, "he said.
Akron has also sent Washington some mail and he said he may take a trip up there this fall. He mentioned Duke, Connecticut, LSU, Alabama, North Carolina, Virginia, and West Virginia as schools he hoped to hear from soon.
Although Washington lives in North Carolina, he grew up following a team outside the Tar Heel State.
"My family is from Connecticut, so I actually grew up a UCONN fan" Washington said. "I am still a pretty big Connecticut fan and I would like for them to offer."
The scholarship offer capped off special summer for Washington, as he also got to play for the USA National Team.
"Team USA was just a great experience," he said. "I enjoyed seeing the older U19 Team USA play and seeing what level we need to get on. Just mingling with kids from other countries and kids from other states – it was a great experience and I wouldn't change it for the world."
With his freshman season fast approaching, Washington has set goals he wants to achieve.
"I would like to rush for 1,000 yards my freshman season," said Washington. "If I don't, I would at least like to get 800 (yards). I just want to play a role on my team and I hope we can win a state championship."
