2014 C.D. Hylton High (Woodbridge, Va.) quarterback Travon McMillian is closing in on double-digit scholarships. With two full seasons of high school football left to play, the talented prospect is already attracting interest from college football programs across the country.

“It’s (recruiting) looking pretty good,” said Travon McMillian. “I have offers from Virginia, Virginia Tech, Maryland, West Virginia, North Carolina, North Carolina State, Marshall, Boston College, and Illinois. I am also hearing from Oregon, Oklahoma, Northwestern, California, and a little bit from Stanford. The only schools that are offering me as an athlete are West Virginia and Maryland. The rest are recruiting me to play quarterback.”

Although the 6-foot, 194-pound McMillian is only a rising junior, a few schools are already standing out.

“I like Virginia Tech for their engineering program,” McMillian said. “UVA also has good education. I also like Stanford and California. Right now, that’s who I really like.”

The Hylton prospect has developed a close relationship with one of the coaches recruiting him.

“I definitely have a good relationship with Bud Foster from Virginia Tech,” said McMillian. "He’s recruiting me from (Virginia) Tech right now. He’s just cool and easy to talk to. He’s straightforward. He told me that they are recruiting me as a quarterback, but if it doesn’t work out, they will move me to something else.”

McMillian was only able to camp at Virginia Tech this summer, but hopes to visit more colleges this fall.

“I want to try to get out to California and Stanford – we will see if that happens,” he said. “I also want to go to UVA and maybe Northwestern.”

After a huge sophomore season, McMillian has his sights set on being even better this fall.

“I want rush for 1,500 (yards) and throw for 3,000,” he said. “I also want to states – go undefeated –and get it done.”

He said when it comes time for him to choose a school, that academics will be very important. McMillian also said he wants to feel comfortable at the school and would like to play early. He bench presses 305 pounds, squats 505, and runs the 40-yard dash in 4.51 seconds.
