Smallwood Picks WVU

Wendell Smallwood

Eastern Christian Academy (Elkton, Md.) running back Wendell Smallwood said today he committed to West Virginia, choosing the Mountaineers over Rutgers.

It took a little longer than expected, but Eastern Christian Academy (Elkton, Md.) running back Wendell Smallwood announced he is bound for West Virginia.

The 5-foot-11, 200-pound Smallwood made the announcement a few minutes ago. He was down to Rutgers and West Virginia, which is where friend and teammate, Daikiel Shorts, committed to last week.

The decision came after Smallwood visited campus on July 29 and met with the coaching staff and toured the facilities.

He is the third running back the Mountaineers took in the 2013 class. He joins Zaire Williams of Timber Creek Regional High (Erial, N.J.) and Deshawn Coleman of Hickory High (Hermitage, Pa.) as running backs to commit to the Mountaineers.

FOXSportsNEXT will have more on this story shortly.
