Led by defensive linemen Bobby Heath and De'Shaun Dunn and a handful of younger recruits, Lake Wales…
Sophomore center with offers
When it comes to offensive line recruits Lake Wales, Fla. head coach Rod Shafer believes he may have one of the best. His name is Luke Hiers and he's a center prospect for the class of 2015. According to Shafer, Hiers has landed early verbal offers from some heavy hitters already. "Florida offered and I have told schools that they better jump on this one early," Shafer said. "Alabama and LSU have offered Luke. Just about everyone that came through here has given him a verbal offer." Hiers, 6-foot-4 and 260-pounds, is a true center and is the only freshman linemen to ever start for Shafer. "I don't play many freshmen let alone start them," Shafer said. "I have only had five start for me all these years and none have been offensive linemen other than Luke. This is a can't miss kid. He's so smart and is a straight A kid. He also has such great footwork. He can long snap. Luke can do it all and he's only going to be a sophomore. He should grow another inch or two and fill out that long frame of his." Hiers does have a Gator connection. His grandfather and uncle both played for Florida. His father was a professional golfer.
